Things you should know

QUALITATIVE PILATES CLASSES are taught by MaryAnne and are booked and paid for by the term in advance. Classes are $18 each and run in line with school terms, with a maximum of 8 clients.  Class options include:

  • Foundation Pilates – Suitable for clients who have recently done beginners work. Also suitable for those who have been doing Pilates for a while longer and prefer a more gradual or restorative approach, rather than a higher level of physical challenge. You can stay at this level for as long as you wish.
  • Progressive Pilates – Suitable for clients who are already 6 to 12 months+ into their Pilates journey. This is for you if you would like more challenging exercise variations available during the class. Ideally requires practice at home between classes and/or attending 2 classes per week.
  • Mums & Bubs Pilates – Introductory taster sessions for those who have not done Pilates before, plus ongoing classes running through the term. Suitable for second trimester onwards, clients require clearance for gentle exercise from their health professional. Non mobile bundles of joy can sleep through the session and/or enjoy cuddles with Mum during exercises.

ONE OFF WORKSHOPS (duration and costs vary) are available with options for total beginners, those just wanting a taster, and those who can’t get through the long summer break without a Pilates fix! See below for booking links, options are:

Private Lessons – Mat & Reformer Combined

  • Private lessons are ideal for clients wanting a taster, to work on specific issues, use the Reformer (Pilates machine), or just prefer to work one on one. Includes suggested home exercise programme.
  • Combination mat and reformer (Pilates machine) lessons available in Loburn: We release muscle tension and increase body awareness using small equipment on the mat,  then reformer work, with a little mat work to finish. The perfect combination!
  • Private lessons in the Loburn studio are $80 for 55 minutes (initial and follow on). There is also an option of $40 for 25 minutes follow on lessons. To book, please contact us directly.
  • Gift vouchers available – including free custom 100% cotton grip socks valued at $10.

Prior to attending classes, workshops or individual sessions, all new clients must complete and return this Client Questionnaire.

All equipment is provided, including mats. You just need to bring yourself 😉

Please see the note below (What should I wear?) regarding socks.

Each client is provided with a freshly laundered small towel to place between their head and the mat/equipment. After each session mats, balls etc. are cleaned with biodegradable disinfectant wipes.

Please wear comfortable layered clothing which you can move freely in. For group classes it’s good to have socks on to reduce friction between your feet and the mat during some exercises, even better to have socks with little grips on the sole for when we’d like to have your feet planted rather than sliding away.

For safety and hygiene, grip socks are compulsory during Reformer (machine) Pilates private lessons, and long hair needs to be tied up. We will gift you a pair of grip socks at your first Reformer lesson.

Each small group class session is 55 minutes duration. Private lessons are available as either 55 minutes or 25 minutes duration.

For maximum benefit, where possible, attending 2 or more in person Pilates classes per week really transforms the pace of progress.

Practicing recommended exercises at home between classes can certainly be beneficial, but having multiple instructor led sessions with direction and feedback really consolidates progress.

Pre-recorded 30 minute online lessons are also available to existing class clients to complement their in person classes for each week of the term. These are purchased ahead for the term, $10 per class and available right through until the start of the next term. Please contact us directly to sign up for this option.

If you miss a class it may be possible to make it up within the term by attending another class which has a space in it: Please contact us to ensure that there is space available to arrange your swap.

To help this system work for all clients, we ask that where possible you let us know if you are unable to attend: We will then be able to offer your place to someone looking to make up a missed class.

Good question! This depends on spaces available and ability levels. Please contact us directly so that we can help you.

Unfortunately not, unless you have signed up for a specific Mums & Bubs Class (where non-mobile babies can come along). For safety reasons and to ensure all clients get the most from their sessions, it is not possible to bring your children along to the venue.

For private lesson clients, non mobile babies in their capsule or pram are welcome to come along.

Accessing Ongoing Classes

Which Qualitative Pilates product is right for me?

  • I’m an existing Qualitative Pilates client who has attended a Beginners Course -> Foundation Pilates (after 6 to 12 months+, if you are ready and wish to, you can move into Progressive Pilates).

  • I’ve recently done in person Pilates classes elsewhere for at least 6 to 12 months+  -> EITHER Foundation Pilates (if your interest is in more gentle/restorative Pilates) OR Progressive ‘Pilates (if you would like more challenging options in the class, requires ideally either practice at home between classes and/or attending 2 classes per week).

  • I’m totally new to Pilates ->2 hour Basics Workshop or Private Lesson(s) -> Foundation Pilates

  • I’ve not done Pilates for ages/had some body changes since I last did -> Ideally 2 hour Basics Workshop -> Foundation Pilates

  • I’ve done Pilates before but online rather than a physical class -> 2 hour Basics Workshop  or Private Lesson   -> Foundation Pilates

  • I’ve done the 2 hour Basics Workshop and I’d like to continue -> Foundation Pilates  – a gentle class which accommodates those new to Pilates as well as those who have been doing it for a while and prefer a more restorative/gentle approach, rather than a higher level of physical challenge. You can stay at this level for as long as suits you.

  • I’m an existing Qualitative Pilates client who has attended ongoing classes for 2 terms or more -> EITHER Foundation Pilates OR Progressive Pilates.
